Despatches from the Front! - June ITSC Call

A report from this month's club call.  The call was well attended with this month having a ceremonial theme!  In true ITSC style this opened a diverse field of items and interests. Contributions  from this months call can be found here:

Firstly Chris Bartlett got the show on the road sharing some original large scale figures of the foot guards, and a selection of other great figures.  Renato Fort added a continental flavour with a selection of Renaissance style city guards, and other Italian units, and showed us "Fort Fort" which he managed to acquire to recapture one of his favourite toys from his childhood. (Something I dare say we have all done at some point in our collecting journey!).  I shared some ceremonial pics from my collection featuring a selection of marching troops on parade. Paul Cattermole continued the Ceremonial theme showing some unusual Fylde marching figures in their original box and a nice detachment of others marching smartly in formation.

Next the call went two dimensional! Jonathan Newman showed us a fascinating selection of paper soldiers, some dating back to the 1840's covering ceremonial units including bands, and general staff and personalities from the French 2nd empire and other eras.  These provided lots of inspiration and there was a lot of interest in these.  Jonathan will be sharing some more of his amazing collection in future calls.

Tony Dilly showed us some of his own and his Dad Roy's superb Britian's conversions and his troops in his "order of battle".  The call was literally in stunned silence as Tony gave us a brief walk through his cabinets.  The craftmanship of his collection can only be described as jaw droppingly amazing!. Tony has kindly offered to give a depth presentation to us at the next call, going over the history and story of the Dilly/Harris collaboration of the 1950's/60's and showing us more of the collection in detail. Something that can't be missed.

Scott Paget gave an update on the recent OMMS on parade show, and there was a good discussion about shows in general and the upcoming Chicago  Show, which was agreed to be THE toy soldier show. I'm Looking forward to going in September, and hope to meet other ITSC members there. If you are planning on going then post on the club chat and we can all try to meet up. And Finally as a regular slot, Ian opened another box form the "under the bed" archive.  Wow, he must have had a 1000 figures in the box, mostly plastic, with some real unusual and classic figures. Next month Box number 7.

All the pictures shared on the call are available in the club resource area, in the June Meeting Folder.

Next Call :The group agreed that the call was well placed on the second Saturday of the month, but to give others the opportunity to attend, we would try the second Friday at 7PM UK time to open up accessibility. I'll put a survey on the ITSC site. Let me know your preference. For Friday 11th or Saturday 12th July

It was a another great call, showing the vastness of our hobby. So whatever your poison, be it wargaming, to 1/6th scale, join us and share your passion and interest. We are all enthusiasts, and lest enjoy the collecting diversity the ITSC has and fosters.

Hope to see you on the next call

Kind Regards

Andrew

Thank you folks for making the photos available for those of us who couldn't make it. Might be a while before I can as I'm still sorting the aftermath of my father's death. Also, thank you for keeping me sane over the last 6 months.

Take care all 🖖
