Some time back I showed you some flat wooden figures which I have in my collection which were made by my good friend Michael Taylor from Cannock. Here is a small sample of other flat wooden figures produced during the the 1940's and 50's and given away by shops/garages to their regular customers. Each wooden figure came with a small paper calendar and a wooden stand. I think they they were printed using a silk screen then cut out on a fret saw. I say this as I have acquired duplicates and the colours are too precise to have been hand painted. I have about 40 different ones.
