New troops have arrived in Garrison! The Royal Canadian Rifle Regiment have arrived to free up Imperial troops for more important duties. Thanks @andrewstevenson this is a great set and well worth the wait!
(Edit: I just figured out how to add multiple images to a post & there is a brief historical note about the regiment below if anyone is interested.
A brief note about the Royal Canadian Rifle Regiment in Newfoundland: Newfoundland enjoyed its own garrison of British troops shortly after the Seven Years War in North America (some call it the French and Indian War). Several fencibles regiments were raised as well as volunteer militia. Newfoundland was home to several "garrison regiments" during this time.
The Garrison Regiment that preceded the arrival of the RCRR was the Royal Newfoundland Companies. This regiment was established in 1842 out of a composite Veterans Battalion and was founded to garrison Newfoundland. This regiment, wore a uniform in the later days very similar to the current Fort Henry Guard. This regiment stood guard over Newfoundland from 1842 until 1861. On 13 May 1861, a hostile mob gathered near the seat of government and the Companies were called up to aid the civil power. During which time, the companies fired on the crowd killing 3 people and wounding several others.
After this event, the Royal Newfoundland Companies were stood down and replaced (or more accuratley absorbed into) a similar size force of the Royal Canadian Rifles. The Garrison in St. John's NFLD was fully withdrawn in 1870 with the last members being a Sgt. of the Royal Regiment of Artillery and his dog, who were quartered at Quidi Vidi Battery.
It should be further noted that the Royal Canadian Rifles were not a Canadian regiment, so much as they were a British Garrison Regiment, which was raised in Canada, until it was disbanded in 1879.
So pleased you like them. And tgg hi and you fir your patience! Been a difficult 12 months.
