Gallipoli!
I’m out in Turkey with Craig Appleton, Tony Dilley and Ian Church on our long awaited trip to the battlefields of Gallipoli. What a great start to the trip. Yesterday we visited the Anzac beaches and the various cemeteries in that sector including the one on the beach at North Beach Ari Burnu, no2 outpost end the 7th ambulance and embarkation point

. We also visited the Anzac memorial. We also went into north beach at Anzac. The view from there of what the troops were tasked to take was awe inspiring and terrifying in the same breath. The whole thing is just incomprehensible as to what they achieved. Attached pics of the cemeteries and the beach looking towards the “sphinx” and the ridges taken by the Anzacs.
Next Helles and the British beaches.

I often marvel at the sheer cold courage that it must have taken to walk into hell like that. Facing an impossible campaign planned badly with outdated intellegence. No wonder the ANAZs thought all British officers where off their chump.
