Irregular Miniatures 42mm flat trees
For a display i prefer scenery to be very much in the background (framing the troops) and low relief. Trees are expensive, and i haven't yet worked out a good method to make my own in the Britains style i prefer, so i thought i'd have a look at IM's 42mm range trees - i like them, and they're large enough (roughly 5 inches) to work as small trees for 54s.

When I was wargaming at 1/300 I used very basic set up for the scenery. I had thick cardboard which I layered up for hills etc and had them like an out sized jigsaw. Limited talent and budget in my student days. But it worked. I was more interested in painting them up, no wonder my eyesight is so shot now 🤣
